FAQ

Common questions
from international
buyers.

What is a Norwegian aksjeselskap (AS)?
An aksjeselskap is the Norwegian equivalent of a limited liability company. It requires a minimum share capital of NOK 30,000, at least one shareholder (no nationality restrictions), and at least one board member. It’s the most common company type for business operations in Norway.
Do I need to be in Norway to buy a shelf company?
No. The entire process is handled digitally. Documents are signed electronically via DocuSign, and all communication can be done remotely. You do not need to visit Norway at any point.
What is a D-number and do I need one?
A D-number is a Norwegian identification number for persons without a Norwegian birth number (fødselsnummer). All directors and the general manager must have one. Processing typically takes 4–8 weeks — we handle the entire application for you at kr 10,000 + VAT.
Are there board residency requirements?
Yes. At least 50% of the board of directors must reside in the EU/EEA, UK, or Switzerland. If a CEO (daglig leder) is appointed, the same residency requirement applies. There are no nationality restrictions for shareholders. If you need assistance meeting the residency requirement, we can connect you with a local board member service.
How do I open a Norwegian bank account?
We connect you directly with our banking partners as part of the delivery. Opening a corporate bank account as an international owner typically takes 2–4 weeks with our partners. This is significantly faster than approaching banks independently.
How quickly can I start using the company?
The company is operational immediately — it already has an active organization number. Name and board changes are registered with Brønnøysundregistrene within 5–7 weeks, but you can use the company and sign contracts from day one.
Are there any hidden liabilities?
No. Every shelf company is guaranteed clean — zero debt, zero tax obligations, no commercial history. The company has never been used for anything. We provide a full guarantee that the entity is free from any liabilities at the time of transfer.
What are the ongoing obligations?
Norwegian companies must file annual financial statements and a tax return. Board meetings must be held at least annually. We can introduce you to accounting partners experienced with international ownership structures.
What’s included in the price?
A registered limited company with an active organization number, all registry filings on your behalf, a complete document package (articles of association, share register, board protocols) in Norwegian and English, banking partner introduction, and service provider introductions (accountant, auditor). Add-ons such as D-number applications, a registered address, and VAT registration are available separately.
Do I need a Norwegian business address?
Yes, Norwegian companies must have a registered business address in Norway. If you don’t have access to one, we offer our Oslo office address at kr 10,000 + VAT per year.
Is there a KYC verification process?
Yes. We are subject to Norwegian anti-money laundering regulations. A brief customer verification is completed before every order can proceed. For international buyers, this typically includes passport verification and proof of address.
